Defeating Deficits: Understanding the Cognitive Abilities
In this session, we will explore the seven main cognitive abilities used to qualify students with a specific learning disabilities.  Teachers will know how to recognize deficits in cognitive abilities, how to locate critical information in Full and Individual Evaluations, understand instruction implications of these deficits, and select instructional strategies to directly support all learners.

Differentiation with Specifically Designed Instruction
In this session, we will explore how to address the unique needs that exist because of a student's disability through differentiation in their students’ special designed instruction.  Teachers will learn various approaches to what student need to learn, how they will learn it, and how they will show what they have learned so that students master their individualized education program (IEP) goals and objectives, as well as ensure access to and progress in the general education classroom.

Progress Monitoring and Grading for Students with Disabilities
Grading can often be a conundrum for teachers, administrators and parents.  A student’s grades communicate his/her relative mastery of content. Educators use that information for instructional decision or to communicate progress.  In this sessions, teachers will learn how to create systems of effective progress monitoring, grading and communication of progress for students with specific learning disabilities.
